I think this only applies to blacks, though. A child of one Asian parent, for example, would be considered Asian only if they looked Asian, no? Think of someone like Keanu Reeves. And aren't there specific laws governing which Native Indians are considered Indians?
This was sort of a trick question. The answer is that there is no scientific basis for oir nation's strict and nonsensical division of the human race. It is...and has from the beginning been a political/economic ploy for the folks I call "Amerocrats" to gain unconscionable wealth and power over the rest of US.

Didn't think there was an actual standard... Let alone a scientific one. DNA testing would show homogenous blendings throughout populations but on the street there is only one indicator ...visual perception.
